Far from what people say the first place you should not go is ebay then second is Gazzelle. The best and easiest answer to selling online is really Craigslist! I know what your saying but its true. Just follow these rules
- -Talk to the buyer over the phone
- -Meet in the open (day light only)
- -Make sure people are around
- -Take a friend
- -Don’t take more then needed to deal
- -Check the case for forgeries
- -if they act strange inspect the item
- -always be up front on flaws
- -dont give out your personal info
This is just a few of the important rules on CL.
We all know how important ISO’s are and Microsoft thinks so to with news that built in abilities will be in 8 sounds great. But question is what happens to the market for iso programs?
Oh Desktop how I remember thee! Felt like it was only yesterday I though having 128mb of memory and a 20gb HDD was a powerhouse(I am not that old so I am not going back to old people desktops) and expensive. But now I can get 8gbs of ram for under $90 and 1tb of HDD for under $60 and 6 cores and a raging graphics card! But you must be saying how could this beast be dead! How can it be?! But its younger brother the laptop is here. With prices not only on the desktop side dropping and performance way up, its happening on the laptop also!
Average and mid level laptops come with 2 cores, 3-4gb ram and 250gb or more HDDs for the price of $300 – $500 with other great built in features and one huge one PORTABILITY! You can use it as a desktop or not its up to you. Thats not counting the higher end $600 – $1000+ with more features then desktops specs that are near identical and with a gaming/graphics hardware improving quarter over quarter. With all this you can still buy a separate monitor, mouse/keyboard and use it as a desktop if you want. So why do we need desktops? They use up more building material then laptops, they take up more space and loose there value far faster then laptops. I don’t think we need them for the average consumer, then can get more then enough out of a laptop then any desktop out there. Less space, less power, portability and features. Thats why we must say goodbye to the desktop.
Farewell and Goodbye

Long are the days of paying alot for HDD’s they are cheap good quality and in the Terabytes now. So what should you be looking for and check out, here is a few tips to use.
- -Don’t pay more then 0.04 cent per Gigabyte for modern Drives
- -Stick with companies that only make HDD’s (Seagate, Western Digital)
- -Avoid used Drives as much as possible or don’t use for important data
- -Used drives should only cost a 1/4 of what a new drive would cost tested.
- -Laptop drives should only be 7200 rpm, 5300 or lower is useless now days since costs are the same and one is clearly better
- -Buy oem only, they don’t have retail packaging but they are the same but cheaper
- -Don’t pay Dell/Apple/HP for the upgraded drive, do it yourself, all most 3 times cheaper and it doesn’t affect your warranty.
- -Drives come with 3 year or higher replacement warranty so use it.
- -Deals are everywhere now days, keep an eye on retailers and sign up for there emails deals up to half off can be found on high capacity drives
These are the best information that you can use with looking for a HDD or buying a new laptop or desktop
NAS – Network Attached Storage
Define: Network based storage accessible by any device on the same network, with hard drives.
These are great devices for storage for home medium to light use. But, not for heavy users by no means. Because even with gigabit nic’s, there mostly low memory and small cpu’s transfer rates never pass 12mbps at the most. Sadly with modern photography, music, movies and other media being so large now days these devices take hours to move large store’s of files making them useless for users.
Cost of NAS’s are cheap and easy to get now but should a home user get one? My answer is No! They are not worth the cost because of the speed alone. Modern home could use an older PC with new HDD and get more speed and reliability with even more options of programs to run with existing hardware they may own.
So until Home NAS technology advances to the transfer speeds of normal PC’s just pass them over.
Its august in NC and that is the peak of the rolling heavy thunderstorms that flickr power and kill it completely. This is the best time to take a look at what your computers, servers and home media devices are powered by. First of all power strips only the ones that provide device guaranties are worth the price, and offer protection and thats final. Next if you run a game server, home media server or just a computer your store all your media on and you live in a prone to power outage or brown outs or heavy storm area, its best to invest in a small to medium battery backup. because not only is turning your computer wrong bad for your equipment, but sudden power drops or flickr’s are even worse! So $40 may seem a lot for a battery but how much was your computer or media center? Just do it for your equipments sake?
